OUR MISSION

She Makes Policy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to activating, championing, and empowering girls and women to participate in and lead global policy change. Through education, training, mentorship, advocacy, support, and targeted funding, we build the capacity of rural communities to shape the policies that affect their lives and the lives of women around the world.

Why Rural?

Rural communities are home to some of the most resilient, resourceful, and determined women and girls in the world. They grow up solving problems with limited resources, building communities from scratch, and leading with a kind of quiet, unshakeable strength that the world rarely sees…just because no one is looking.

Policy rarely reflects our realities. Our voices are underrepresented in local, national, and global policy spaces. The decisions that shape our lives are routinely made without women at the table.

That is not just a gap, it’s an emergency. She Makes Policy is the response.

Why Policy?

Policy is about who gets resources and who doesn’t. Policy is whose water is clean. Policy is whose voice is heard when the rules are written.

When rural women make policy, everything changes; for everyone! The most overlooked perspectives are almost always the most necessary ones.

What We Do

Policy was never meant to be a mystery. We make it accessible, relevant, and actionable. This way, girls and women understand the rules and are ready to rewrite them.

The ballot box is a policy tool in our own hometowns. Rural women deserve to wield it with full knowledge and confidence. We provide nonpartisan education and registration so that she can show up, speak up, and be counted.
